Now begins an important part of our journey. How do we start to make this house into a Bed and Breakfast?  We are starting from scratch. We have stayed at many B&Bs, and so have seen many different ways of running a B&B. But actually running one ourselves is  quite a different story.  A week or so ago we bought ‘The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Owning and Running a Bed and Breakfast”.  Rusty thought it would be a good idea that we read it together.  Last night we began to do just that. Although the first chapter seems simplistic, it did bring up good ideas to think about.  How do you deal with unsatisfied guests?  What do you do when your staff doesn’t show up for work? Can you handle a 24/7 work schedule?

Chapter one ended with a test to help you figure out if running a B&B is the thing for you. We passed, but it highlighted that Rusty may have to screen his comments a bit more and I have to learn to better deal with irritating people.

24/7 work schedule? Holy crap! Okay, some doubt just set in.
